NIGHT PRAYER: Tuesday 8/4

So much of my spiritual life, Lord,
is discovered - in retrospect...

I so often feel completely lost,
not sure of where I'm going
or where you might be calling me...

I wonder where you are in my life...

It's then that my greatest surety lies in looking back
and seeing how you've always been there,
how you've never left my side,
how you've guided my every step
even - and especially - when I was lost
or when I'd fallen flat on my face:
you were there, you were still there,
you are always there
and you always will be,
day after day, week after week,
year after year...

In all times, Lord, you've been faithful to me,
even - and especially - when I've been unfaithful to you:
even then you've been there
as you've always been there
and you always will be,
day after day, week after week,
year after year...

It's in retrospect, Lord,
that my faith in you is found, restored and refreshed
as I remember your love for me,
your endless spring of mercy
quenching my thirst for life and love
that's strong, faithful and enduring:
day after day, week after week,
year after year...

Tonight then, Lord, help me remember,
help me rejoice that you've been with me always:
day after day, week after week,
year after year...

Amen.

Day After Day by Maranatha Singers

Day after day after day, you have been faithful to me.
Day after day after day I'm on your ways...

Day after day, week after week, year after year,
I will declare your glory
I will declare your greatness
I will praise... your... name...
Day after day after day, you are my Savior my friend.
Day after day after day, I'm not alone...
Day after day, week after week, year after year,
You will be right beside me
You'll be here to guide me
I will praise... your... name...
Day after day, day after day... oh...
Day after day after day, you have been faithful to me.
Day after day after day I'm on your ways.
Day after day, week after week, year after year,
I will declare your glory
I will declare your greatness
I will praise... your name...
Day after day. after day...
MMMMMMMMMMMM
