NIGHT PRAYER: Monday 7/12

I don't often remember my dreams, Lord,

but I know folks who fear falling asleep

for their dreams are disturbing,

mysterious, distressing...

I pray tonight, Lord, for all those troubled 

by what their dreams bring to mind...

 

I pray for those whose dreams confuse and unsettle

their peace of mind and heart...

 

I pray for those whose recurring dreams

make of sleep not a balm but a burden...

I pray for those shaken and frightened 

by the world they find in their dreams...

 

I pray for those who pray for sweet dreams,

for dreams to refresh and renew their souls...

I pray for those who seek you, Lord,

awake, asleep and deep in their dreams...

 

I pray you fill with healing grace

the dreams of your people whose hearts are yours...

 

I pray that together we hope and we work

for the time when the dream of your peace comes true...

Protect us, Lord, while we lie awake

and watch over us while we sleep

that awake we stand close by your side

and asleep, we find sweet dreams...
