NIGHT PRAYER: Saturday 2/5

Tonight, Lord, 

I want to thank you for all the threads in my life:

    threads connecting me

        to everyone I've ever met and known,

    all the folks whose lives have touched, changed, 

        blessed, wounded, healed and shaped my life

            - all woven in my heart...

 

Some threads are so old and thin

     I don't remember where they came from

        or to whom they connect me 

     and yet, and still

        - they're woven in the fabric of my heart...

 

And some threads, Lord, are strong, secure:

    threads that keep me in one piece;

    threads that serve me as my life lines;

    threads that give my being texture, verve and color;

    threads of friendship, love and kindness

        - woven by divine design 

            in my soul's living tapestry...

 

And your thread, Lord,

the strongest strand of all:

    a twine of grace and mercy,

    dyed in blood to match and patch my heart,

    to heal my wounds and hold me all together...

 

Your thread, Lord: 

    pulsing, streaming through my veins, alive,

    threading your way into all I am and all I have,

    weaving my life into yours 'til we share but one heart

    made of all the sacred threads 

        - you've woven in your love, in my soul...

Protect me, Lord, while I'm awake

and watch over me while I sleep

that awake, I might keep watch with you

and asleep, rest in your peace...
