This weekend brings us to the Fourth Sunday of Lent, the half-way point of these 40 days. For a brief time, the somber purple of Lent brightens to rose and the words of the liturgy will call us to rejoice, even in this season of sacrifice. Christian faith often calls us to lift our hearts in joy, even when they're heavily burdened...
Lord,
help me find your Spirit's joy
when things aren't going well...
help me find consoling peace
when I'm burdened with my grief...
help me find safe refuge
when I don't know where to turn...
help me find both faith and trust
when my mind is filled with doubts...
help me find your counsel
when I don't know what to think or do...
help me find new hope
when it seems all hope is gone...
help me find your strength
when temptation comes to call...
help me find your healing
when I'm angry and resentful...
help me know you're present
when I'm feeling most alone...
help me find true joy
in the middle of these 40 days,
just halfway now to Easter...
Amen.
