From my sister's street in Georgetown, CO |
I try to remember
to look where I'm going,
to watch my step
and keep my eyes on the road ahead...
But I also need
to lift up my eyes to the mountains
from where shall come my help...
I need to look up and out of my misery
to breathe the fresh air of trust and hope...
I need to watch for the heights that call me
out of the depths of my grief and pain...
I need to train my eyes on your path
so I can rise up, Lord, with you in faith...
You're right by my side every step of the way
- but above and beyond me as well...
You call me to lift up my eyes to your glory,
from where shall come all the help I need...
By day the sun's heat will do me no harm
and at night the Moon shall serve as my guide...
My coming and going you guide with care
as I make my way up to you in prayer,
as I make my way up your mountain, Lord,
from where shall come my help!
Amen.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains;
from where shall come my help?
My help shall come from the Lord
who made heaven and earth.
May he never allow you to stumble!
Let him sleep not, your guard.
No, he sleeps not nor slumbers,
Israel’s guard.
The Lord is your guard and your shade;
at your right side he stands.
By day the sun shall not smite you
nor the moon in the night.
The Lord will guard you from all evil,
he will guard your heart and your soul.
The Lord will guard your going and your coming
now and for evermore.
