NIGHT PRAYER: Monday 11/18

Here are some things, Lord,

that I often forget,

that I need to remember

and want to bring to prayer this night:

 

• No one knows better than you, Lord,

  (and certainly you know better than I)

  what will truly make me happy

  and finally bring me peace...

 

• You already know, Lord,

   all my weaknesses and failings,

   my sins and my transgressions,

   yet with love, you offer me your mercy... 

 

• You know my foolishness and pride

   you know my envy and self-pity

   but you never fail to find in me

   the apple of your eye...

• You know the mess I make of things

   when I forget your word and truth

   and still you reach to rescue me

   with grace to do the next right thing...

• Your mercy's always greater

    than the greatest of my sins;

   your wisdom's always wiser

     than my foolish, errant ways;

   your love is always deeper, Lord,

     than I could ever fathom;

   you're my God, you're my Creator,

     I'm your beloved, I'm your own...

 

Protect me, Lord, while I'm awake

    and watch over me while I sleep

that awake, I might keep watch with you

    and asleep, rest in your peace...
