Pause for Prayer: SATURDAY 3/15

 

Sometimes, Lord, 

    I have a hard time figuring out:

        if what's in my head 

            comes from you or from me;

        if the road I'm taking

            is your way or mine;

        if my aims and my goals   

            serve you or my pride;

        if the choices I make

            honor you or my ego;

        if what's on my mind

            are your thoughts or mine;

        if the word I speak

            is your truth or my fiction;

        if the things I love

            mirror you or myself...

 

But then I remember

   what comes from you, Lord:

         will be true, honorable, 

            just and pure;

        will be noble, enduring

            life giving and free;

        will be strong and gentle,

            healing and wise;

        will be patient, faithful, 

            fruitful and true;

        will be merciful, peaceful,

            forgiving and kind; 

        will be beautiful, gracious,

            and worthy of praise...

 

In the morning, Lord, fill me

    with all that you are;

flood my heart

    with your grace and your joy;

come Jesus, 

    my Way, my Truth and my Life...
