O Lord, you know already
the name of the one the cardinals will choose,
the one who'll appear on the balcony
to bless the crowds in Saint Peter's Square
and all of us all around the world...
You already know his name, O Lord,
and the new name he'll choose
as the bishop of Rome,
first among equals,
your vicar on earth
and shepherd of all your people...
You already know
how he'll preach the gospel,
teach the faith
and govern the Church...
You already know
how his life and gestures,
his tears and smiles,
his decisions and choices
will touch our lives,
lead us to prayer
and call us to serve
and follow more closely
your merciful path to peace...
Whoever he will be, Lord,
some of us will like him
and some of us may not
but you'll be calling all of us
to pray for him and love him
and to listen in his words
for the wisdom you will give him
to do your work and help us all
to live our lives in you...
And help us to remember, Lord:
the best new pope won't be the one
who does just what we want
but will be the one who leads us
to know and do your will,
for your glory, in your name...
Protect us, Lord while we're awake
and watch over us while we sleep
that awake, we might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace...
Amen.
To Do Your Will by Roc O'Connor

To do your will is my desire.
To live in you is my delight.
To spread your love through all the earth,
to find in you the joy of life.
You know my ways, the paths I strayed
which I believed were hid from sight.
Yet, your light shined on my wayward path,
you drew me back from pain and strife.
So now my mouth declares your praise,
"Amazing Grace," how sweet the sound.
When I was lost, love did abound
You fashioned eyes to see your grace.
Into your hands I give my all,
my life and will, my hopes and dreams.
One thing I ask, this alone I seek,
To dwell in you for all my days.
GOD
