6/9/25

NIGHT PRAYER: Monday 6/9

I find myself in need of deliverance,
deliverance that only the Lord can offer...

From lies that keep us from knowing the truth,
    deliver us, Lord...

From half-truths designed to shape a consensus,
    deliver us, Lord...

From scams that shortchange, mislead and delude,
    deliver us, Lord...

From the swindle that leaves us cheated and stung,
    deliver us, Lord...

From madness extolled as reason and logic,
    deliver us, Lord...

From pretense that postures as virtue and honor,
    deliver us, Lord...

From hoaxes that suck in and dupe the crowd,
    deliver us, Lord...

From sophistry dressed as insight and science,
    deliver us, Lord...

From fake news deliberately published as fact,
    deliver us, Lord...

From error disguised and promoted as proof,
    deliver us, Lord...

From fraud that robs us of trust and good faith,
    deliver us, Lord...

From rumors that poison a good reputation,
    deliver us, Lord...

From deception that rivals the devil's own work,
    deliver us, Lord...

Deliver us, Lord,
    from all that is evil...

Deliver us, Lord,
    and lead us to truth...

Deliver us, Lord,
with the grace of  your wisdom...

Deliver us, Lord,
    through mindful discernment...

Deliver us, Lord,
    through your Spirit's counsel...

Deliver us, Lord,
    and reveal in our hearts
how you are the way,
    the truth and the life;
how yours is the peace
    that all hearts seek...

Protect us, Lord while we're awake
and watch over us while we sleep
that awake, we might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace...

Amen.

I was pleased to find this song
    to pair with tonight's litany...

Good Lord, good Lord
Good Lord, deliver us
Good Lord, good Lord
Good Lord, deliver us

From the merchants in the table
And the worship of our greed
From the whisper of the tempter
"We shall take more than we need"

From the chains of wealth and plunder
From our avarice and pride
From the ever-growing hunger
From our vanity and strife

Good Lord, good Lord
Good Lord, deliver us
Good Lord, good Lord
Good Lord, deliver us

From our constant quest for power
Over all that we survey
From the lies that we devour
From the fears we cannot face

Come and save us from our demons
Come and strip away our hate
Come on, Lord, restore our reason
Come on, Christ, the time is late

Good Lord, good Lord
Good Lord, deliver us
Good Lord, good Lord
Good Lord, deliver us
