Pause for Prayer: THURSDAY 7/24

There's so much going on, Lord,

    so much that disturbs me, 

    confuses me,

    brings me down 

    and drains me of my trust and hope...

 

But I know the news of the day

    can never stay your arm 

        from lifting up my spirits,

    nor foil your grace

        from refreshing my perspective, 

    nor keep your joy

        from knocking on my door...

 

Send your Holy Spirit, Lord,    

    to tame my animosity,

    to heal me of my bitterness,

    and anoint my heart with hope...

 

Open my eyes and ears, Lord,

    and open my very soul

to all the ways, every day,

    you touch and bless my life

regardless of how crushing

    the breaking news may be... 

 

Let me never miss the moments, Lord

    when you whisper your word in my heart,

    when you open my eyes to beauty.

    and draw me to the truth... 

 

Let me be mindful, Lord,

    when you invite me to walk by your side,

    when you lift me up when fall,

    when you give me a second chance,

    guide me when I'm lost

    and touch my grief with healing peace... 

 

Make me aware, Lord,

    when you mend my broken parts,

    spark my will to forge ahead,

    shine your light on my dark path

    and steady my faltering step... 

 

Let me see how you're there for me 

    when you give me cause to trust,

    when you nudge me when I'm really stuck, 

    when you heal me in your mercy

    and console me in my sadness.. 

 

Don't let me miss the times

    when you calm me in my fears,

    when you counsel me through hard times;

    when you share your Spirit's wisdom

    and embrace me with your love...

 

Wake me to the 0h-so-many ways, Lord,

    when you're with me by my side,

    always showing me the way

    and sharing all the strength I need

    to live, to love, to hope and trust

    that all things shall be well,

    that all things shall be well...
