Monday Morning Offering: 9/8

For many folks, Lord,
this is a very busy time of year
but at this point in my life
    things move more slowly
        (for which I'm grateful!)
so it may be I have a keener eye
for those whose plates are piled high
        with problems and burdens;
    whose schedules and calendars
        overflow with too many responsibilities;
    whose energy is sapped
        by worry and anxiety,
who live in fear of what may come,
        of what tomorrow holds...

For just these folks I offer you
    my Monday morning prayer...

For those who don't know where to turn,
I pray you take their hand, Lord,
and guide them, gently, to that peace
I trust you wait to give them...

For those who grieve and mourn, Lord,
I pray you lift their souls in faith
to soothe the aching loss they bear,
    to smooth the broken edges
        of their wounded, broken hearts...

For  those who bear the burden
    of troubles in their families,
I pray your healing mercy
    might mend and reconcile
        what's now broken and undone...

And or those, Lord, who need work,
    whose funds are low,
who struggle just to make ends meet,
I pray you help them find a job, a good one,
and grant them peace of mind...

For those who are alone, Lord,
    (with friends or without them)
and for those who hide
from those who seek to love them,
I pray you open up their hearts
    to welcome in the people
who wait to share their love...

For those whose health is failing
    in body, mind and spirit,
who tire of the mystery
and the pain of being ill,
I pray you sweet anointing
on their bodies and their souls,
the gift and grace of strength, Lord,
    that's only yours to give...

For those who live the secrets
of their nightmares and their fears,
whose failing trust imprisons them
    alone, with none to tell,
I pray you shine the light, Lord,
to break through all the darkness
and free them for the peace that comes
    of waking in your arms...

For those who struggle in faith, Lord,
and long to find your peace,
I pray your Spirit fill their minds
    with counsel and with wisdom,
with the truth that sets us free...

For those not treated justly, Lord,
    who suffer hate and insult,
I pray they know their dignity,
    the value that is theirs,
in your sight and in your heart...

And help me, Lord,
    in any way I can,
to ease the pain and burdens
    of those whose paths cross mine;
to lift up those bowed down, laid low,
    and bring your healing peace
to touch and lift their hearts...

Receive my morning offering, Lord,
and help me make the time
to help all those I meet today
    and through the week ahead...

Amen.
