NIGHT PRAYER: Monday 11/10

For Christians, November is a traditional time to remember and pray for those who have died.  Tonight's prayer has two parts: the first is up to you, the second relies on tonight's song...

First, I invite you to remember and pray for your loved ones who have died...  Take some time to recall the very things about them that made their passing and loss so difficult for you... Take some time to thank God for the gifts and blessings you received from them...  Take some time to grieve...  And finally, take some time to entrust these loved ones into the everlasting arms of the Lord...

Second, listen to this evening's song with all the memories and blessings - and tears - your prayer tonight  has brought you...  And listen through to the very end of the song...

Give rest unto your servants with your saints, O God.
Give rest, give rest,
where there is neither pain nor sorrow,
neither sighing, but life everlasting. (2X)

For you, God only are immortal;
the creator and the maker of us all,
And we are mortal formed of the earth,
and to the earth we shall return.

Give rest unto your servants with your saints, O God.
Give rest, give rest
where there is neither pain nor sorrow,
neither sighing, but life everlasting.

For so did you ordain when you created me saying:
"You are dust, and to dust you shall return."
All of us go down to the dust,
yet even at the grave we make our song:
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia."

Give rest unto your servants with your saints, O God.
Give rest, give rest,
where there is neither pain nor sorrow,
neither sighing, but life everlasting,
neither sighing, but life everlasting.

Protect me, Lord, while I'm awake
and watch over me while I sleep
that awake, I might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace...

Amen.
