Hoping to make a new beginning in 2026?

Many of us look forward to the new year as a time to make a new beginning.  Here are some scriptures that might help in our reflection and prayer, in our determination and resolution to change and grow...

Do not despise these small beginnings,
for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin…
 Zechariah 4:10

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Do do you not perceive it?
Isaiah 43:18-19

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God,
who gives generously to all without finding fault,
and it will be given to you.
James 1:5

But he said to me,
“My grace is sufficient for you,
for my power is made perfect in weakness."
Therefore I will boast all the more gladly
about my weaknesses,
so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
 2 Corinthians 12:9

For God has not given us a spirit of fear,
but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7

And we know that in all things
God works for the good of those who love him,
who have been called according to his purpose.
 Romans 8:28

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6

Therefore, if anyone is a new creation.
The old has passed away;
 behold, the new has come.
 2 Corinthians 5:17

For I know the plans I have for you,
declares the Lord,
plans for your welfare and not for evil,
to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11

To put off your old self,
which belongs to your former manner of life
and is corrupt through deceitful desires,
and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
and to put on the new self,
created after the likeness of God
in true righteousness and holiness.
Ephesians 4:22-24
