NIGHT PRAYER: Friday 7/24

Lord, the patience of others will always amaze me:

    the seeker patiently searching for truth...

    the dreamer's patience for what's not yet...

    the patience of farmers waiting for harvest...

    the patience of those who pray for healing...

    a mother's patience with a fussing child...
 

    the patience of a spouse 

        whose spouse isn't patient...

    the patience of those who wait for an answer...

    the patience of those live day by day...

    the patience of inmates serving their time...

    the patience of those whose work is boring...
 

    a good friend's patience
        with an unfaithful friend...

    the patience of teachers
        with students who struggle, 

     

    the patience of sufferers
        whose pain never ends...

    the patience of those who are waiting for justice... 

    the patience of others with all my mistakes...

    the patience of those who are grieving a loss... 

        and your patience, Lord,
    with my faults and sins:
        your patience is mercy,
            a gift undeserved...

Give me patience, Lord, in my thoughts
    and in my words and deeds,
patience with those around me
    and with my own limitations
and patience with the world
    and how all moves in your good time...

Protect me, Lord, while I'm awake
    and watch over me while I sleep
that awake, I might keep watch with you
    and asleep rest in your peace...
