Praying 10 minutes today: April 20

Set aside some time for prayer...
find a quiet place...
take a few deep breaths...
be still... and know that God is near...

A word to reflect on:
I have called to you, Lord;
hasten to help me!
Hear my voice when I cry to you...
- Psalm 141

How will I call on the Lord today?
What will I tell him? What will I ask of him?
Will I listen for his voice, his word? his truth?
The Lord is listening for my heart's prayer, today:
be still... and know that God is near...

This is a simpler form of my Lenten series for daily prayer. I'll offer posts like this a couple times a week.  If you find them helpful,  please let me know.  Here are some tips on praying 10 minutes a day...

  2. yes, this is helpful to me, but I have to be honest, right now, my "ten minutes a day" are more like one minute here, then another minute there-
my minutes are not very organized and are spread out throughout the day...

I would like to try to spend more time, at one time, sitting and praying, or just being still-
just being quiet and knowing that God is there- with me.

  3. Dear Fr Austin
Thank you for the blog and post. Your recent blog hit home - taking that few minutes during a busy day for prayer in a Sacred space. While at Holy Hour on Divine Mercy Sunday I prayed that I would be aware He is near throughout my busy day as I knew during that hour. Your post is something I can and did reflect upon throughout the day...And you have inspired me to read Psalm 141 this evening.

    Thanks for the reflection

    Francine
