It's All Hallows' Eve,
a night for costumes and masks
and, like every evening, a time to pray...
Lord,
help me not worry about my everyday costumes.
Clothes don't make the man,
clothes don't make the woman:
it's how our hearts are dressed
that makes us who we are.
And help me take off the masks I wear
to hide from others (and even from myself)
the person you made me to be...
Help me find the goodness you see in each of us,
under the costumes and behind the masks,
and help me learn to love what I find.
Amen.
