To do what is just...

If this is what you ask of me today, Lord,

and I know you do,

then keep me honest, fair and true

in what I say, in what I do,

with you and with myself, with others

at home, at work, at school,

in my mind and in my heart:

keep me honest, fair and just

especially when I'm thinking of being anything but...

To love tenderly...

If this is what you ask of me today, Lord,

and I know you do,

then keep my heart and hopes, 

my mind and motives - pure;

help me be gentle with others and with myself;

let my words and deeds be 

tender and strong, firm and tender:

tenderize me, Lord, 

especially when I'm feeling obstinate and grumpy...

To walk humbly...

If this is what you ask of me today, Lord,

and I know you do,

then keep me mindful of your presence

beside, around and within me;

let my steps follow yours,

lead me where I need to go,

shadow me with your presence

and with a gentle hand

lead me in the right direction;

may I walk humbly with others

as I'd have them walk with me:

give me a humble gait, Lord,

especially when I'm about to walk over

or around my neighbor... 

To do what is just...

To love tenderly...

To walk humbly...

If this is what you ask of me today, Lord,

and I know you do,

grant me the grace to be faithful

to what you desire in me,

today...
