Pause for Prayer: THURSDAY 11/5

Time for us to pray for peace, Lord,
    time to pray for:
    - a spirit of peace across our nation
    - a peaceful conclusion to the election process
    - peace in the streets of our our cities
            and neighborhoods
    - peace in our families
    - peace in our circles of friends
    - peace in our faith communities
    - peace with our coworkers
    - peace on social media
    - a peaceful healing of America's people
    - peaceful cooperation in and between
           the branches of our government
    - peaceful collaboration on Covid-19
    - peace in the hearts of each and all of us
    - peaceful thoughts to guide your people
    - peace in our nation's very soul
peace that comes from you alone, Lord,
peace you give to me
to share with all...

Amen.

(Some of my readers will know that this song is not one of my favorites - but it seems singularly appropriate this morning alongside the prayer above. Beginning with a simple accompaniment on acoustic guitar, this choral arrangement of a well  known piece avoids anything trite and succeeds effortlessly in lifting one's soul to God...)

Let There Be Peace on Earth by the Harlem Boys Choir

Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth
The peace that was meant to be.
With God as our Father
Family all are we.
Let us walk with each other
In perfect harmony.

Let peace begin with me
Let this be the moment now.
With every step I take
Let this be my solemn vow.
To take each moment
And live each moment
In peace eternally.
Let there be peace on earth,
And let it begin with me.

Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth
The peace that was meant to be.
With God as our Father
Family all are we.
Let us walk with each other
In perfect harmony.

Let peace begin with me
Let this be the moment now.
With every step I take
Let this be my solemn vow.
To take each moment
And live each moment
In peace eternally.
Let there be peace on earth,
And let it begin with me.
