NIGHT PRAYER: Friday 6/24

This seems an apt prayer for the close of the day we keep

    as the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus...

Our hearts are restless, Lord, 

    until they rest in you...

My heart is restless, Lord,

    until it rests in your heart...

 

My heart is anxious, Lord,

    until it rests in your deep peace...

My heart is grieving, Lord,

    until it rests in you, my joy...

 

My heart is worried, Lord,

    until it rests and trusts in you...

 

My heart is tired, Lord,

    until it rests in you, my strength 

 

My heart is doubtful, Lord,

    until it rests in you, my truth...

 

My heart is wounded, Lord,

    until it rests, healed in your embrace...

 

My heart is waiting, Lord,

    until it rests in you for whom I wait...

 

My heart is restless, Lord,

    until it rests in your heart:

in your strong and gentle, holy, loving,

    wounded, healing, boundless, gracious  heart... 

Calm me in my restlessness,

keep vigil while I sleep

that awake, I keep the watch with you

and sleep, Lord, in your peace...
