My Christmas tree's still up, Lord,
glowing warm and bright
in my living room window...
But the radiance of Christmas spirit
and the warmth of last week's joy
have dimmed, have cooled within my heart...
Some of that's inevitable, I know:
what makes a feast a feast is anticipation
and once the feast is past
its excitement, of its nature,
will wane and fade away...
Still, I pray your Spirit's breath might stir
what Christmas embers glow yet in my soul
and bring again to life, to light, to warmth,
for just a few more days,
the peace a newborn child brought to all the world
so very long ago...
