Christmas is only days away, days away from the story of Mary giving birth to Jesus in a stable in Bethlehem. Let's reflect on Mary's loving response to God's invitation and her love for the child of her womb, Jesus...
Today's Pause for Prayer is a song, not a text: the most beautiful setting of the Ave Maria I've ever heard, composed by Franz Biebl (1906-2001) and perfectly performed by Chanticleer. As you'll hear and can follow in the lyrics, Biebl intersperses the Angelus prayer with the familiar text of the Ave.
Angelus Domini, nuntiavit Mariae,
et concepit de Spiritu Sancto.
The angel of the Lord declared unto MaryAve Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum;
and she conceived of the Holy Spirit.
benedicta tu in mulieribus
