NIGHT PRAYER: Sunday 5/30

Memorial Day honors those who died in action while serving in the military. Beyond that, Memorial Day has also become a time to visit and decorate the graves of  all our deceased family members and friends.  People visit a cemetery to remember those buried there, recalling memories of the love they shared - and by praying that God has welcomed them to the company of angels and saints in the everlasting joy of heaven.
This Night Prayer offers:
- an adaptation of a prayer from the funeral rite,
for use at a cemetery or at home
-  the Litany of the Saints with it's recurring refrain:
"All you holy men and women, pray for us..."
Trusting in you, Lord, we pray
for _______  and _______
and _______ and_______
to whom we've bid our last farewell.
Holding the sorrow of their passing in our hearts
we take comfort in the hope
that one day we shall see them again and enjoy their love
when your mercy gathers us together again
in the joy of your kingdom.
Until then, we find our peace and consolation
in our faith in you, Lord, and in your saving love.

Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
