 A new week has begun, Lord!

 

Some of us, for one reason or another,

have been looking forward to this week

with excitement, anticipation and joy...

 

    We praise you, Lord,

    from whom all blessings flow!

 

Some of us, for one reason or another,

have feared, even dreaded, the days just ahead 

for what they might or might not bring...

 

    We praise you, Lord,

    the font of all our faith and strength!

 

Some of us, for reasons of pain and illness,

pray again this week for good news and healing,

for comfort, rest and consolation...

 

    We praise you, Lord, 

    the source of all that soothes and mends and cures!

     

Some of us, for one reason or another,

hope and pray this week will mark a change,

make a difference, see a dream come true... 

    We praise you, Lord,

    the God of all surprises, large and small! 

And all of us, Lord, for reasons you know well,

plead this week for peace throughout the world,

for truth that leads to freedom, equality and justice...

    We praise you, Lord,

    from whom all blessings flow!

We offer you the week that lies ahead, Lord,

with all its ups and downs 

its twists and turns,

its losses and its gains,

its disappointments and surprises,

its sorrows and its joys, 

its endings and beginnings...

Prepare us, open us and strengthen us,

for all that comes our way this week

- and most of all - 

remind us that with you by our side,

with your blessing and grace,

all things shall be well, Lord,

all manner of things shall be well...
