NIGHT PRAYER: Monday 11/8

I know everyone worries, Lord, about their family and friends
but no one worries as does a parent for a child,
a mom or a dad for a son or a daughter...

So tonight, Lord, I want to pray for mothers and fathers
whose hearts are burdened by worry for their children...

I pray for parents of children who are ill,
of children suffering with any illness or disease
and especially of children who are critically or terminally ill:
touch these young ones with healing
in any way you choose, Lord,
    and bless their parents
with the courage, comfort and compassion they so much need
    in caring for their own...

And I pray for parents of children
who are suffering growing pains,
who are troubled and acting out,
who are bullied (or are bullies):
    bless these families
with the courage, comfort and compassion they so much need
to find and be at peace...

I pray for parents of children
who working their way through adolescence,
who struggle with their sexual identity,
who have trouble making friends:
    bless these families
with the courage, comfort and compassion they so much need
to find and be at peace...

I pray for parents of children
who died in pregnancy, in their youth or later,
who were given up for adoption,
who were lost through abortion,
who were separated from their families in migration,
and for husbands and wives who can't have children:
    bless these families
with the courage, comfort and compassion they so much need
to find and be at peace...

I pray for parents of adult chlldren
who are unemployed,
who are struggling financially
who are facing challenging choice and decisions,
whose marriages are troubled,
who've lost touch with mom and dad:
    bless these families
with the courage, comfort and compassion they so much need
to find and be at peace...

I pray for parents separated from their sons and daughters
who are in harm's way in military service,
who've run away,
who've been distanced by separation and divorce,
who are incarcerated,
who simply don't stay in touch with their parents:
    bless these families
with the courage, comfort and compassion they so much need
to find and be at peace...

Mary and Joseph were no strangers to worry and grief, Lord,
as they awaited your birth, watched you grow
and lived through your suffering and death:
may their faith, their perseverance and their love
be a model for us all, especially for parents,
as we seek the courage, comfort and compassion we need
to find and be at peace...

Protect us, Lord, while we're awake
and watch over us while we sleep
that awake, we may keep watch with Christ
and asleep, rest in your peace...

Amen.

May the Lord answer you in the day of your trouble
May the name of the Lord be your strong mighty tower
May He grant you your heart's deepest dreams and desires
May He answer each time you call

May He pour out the blessing of heaven
May you cast your cares on Him and daily fall
May you live to see your children's children
May Lord Jesus be your All in All

May the Lord Jesus Christ satisfy beyond all measure
May His Word light your path
May His Peace guard your heart
May your days be filled with gladness, joy and peace through any sadness
Filled with love that will not depart

May your strength be renewed like the eagle
As you run the race may joy flood every part
May your memories all be sweet in each parting
May the peace of Christ rule in your heart

May His word be to you health and life, joy and treasure
May your home be a light
May the Lord guard your ways
May the Lord be your shepherd
May His goodness and mercy follow after you all your days!

May His mercies be new every morning
May His grace and Holy Spirit help you stand
May you live your life to die for the gospel
May you hold to His unchanging hand

May the Lord answer you in the day of your trouble
May the name of the Lord be your strong mighty tower
May He grant you your heart's deepest dreams and desires
May He answer each time you call
May He answer each time you call
