Homily for Fourth Sunday of Lent: March 27

Larry Gerbens and Rembrandt by Don Prys

On the last Sunday of each month, the deacon at Good Shepherd Parish preaches at all the masses.  But this weekend, I had been invited to preach at West Concord Union Church in Concord so I did indeed have a preaching assignment.  Here's a link to my homily there.

In my homily I suggest the importance of studying the whole story of the younger son in the parable.  I was pleased to find, then, the painting above by Don Prys, of a man sitting in a museum gallery, earnestly contemplating Rembrandt's rendering of the return of the prodigal son.
