We
live in a rough world, Lord,
a coarse, harsh and often unforgiving
place
where
humankind and nature, too, make dangerous
the streets we walk,
the cities we live in
and our global village
where
we've yet to find the way
to live in harmony, in peace,
healed, reconciled,
one family in love...
Power-hungry
greed and lust lay waste the land
and claim the lives and homes and hopes of many,
especially the innocent, the young, the frail, the poor...
For
our pleasure, for a dollar, for a vote
we ignore, we betray
the human dignity bestowed on each
person by you,
our Maker, our Lover, our God...
We long for that precious balance
meant to keep us all alive, healthy, growing,
flourishing in the garden of your
universe...
And
so it is we turn today
to Mary, gentle woman, quiet light,
morning star, so strong
and bright
gentle mother, peaceful
dove,
seat of
wisdom, heart of love...
We turn to Mary,
the New Eve, Daughter of Israel,
Ark of the New Covenant, Star of the Sea,
Woman of Faith, Bearer of Good News
and Mother of joy...
O
Mary,
our mother, our sister,
give us just the grace we need
to become your faithful
children,
making
peace with one another,
kind and gentle with our neighbors
and with the world we call our home...
Gentle
Mother, peaceful dove,
teach us wisdom; teach us love...
Protect us, Lord while we're awake
and watch over us while we sleep
that awake, we might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace...
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace,
The Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women
And blest is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners now
And at the hour of death.
Amen.
Gentle woman, quiet light,
Morning star, so strong, so bright.
Gentle mother, peaceful dove,
Teach us wisdom, teach us love.
You were chosen by the Father,
You were chosen for the Son,
You were chosen from all women
and for woman, shining one...
Blessed are you among women,
blest in turn all women, too,
blessed they with peaceful spirits
blessed they with gentle hearts...
