NIGHT PRAYER: Thursday 11/3

On some days, Lord,
    and on many an evening,
I just want to know, I just need to know
that you're close by my side,
that your arm's 'round my shoulder,
that you lend your ear to my quiet prayer...

On some nights, Lord,
    and maybe this night
I just want to know, I just need to know
that you're still my joy when I'm deep in sorrow,
that you understand what I cannot fathom,
that you guide my steps when I've lost my way...

On some nights
    - no - make that every night, Lord,
I just want to know, I just need to know,
that in my darkness, you're the light on my path,
that in my fear, you're my hope and my strength,
that in your mercy, you hold me in peace...

On some days, Lord,
    and on many an evening
I just want to know, I just need to know,
that you're always there, ever faithful and true,
that you're at my side, in good times and bad
and that with your gentle and healing grace
that all shall be well, and all shall be well,
and all manner of things shall be well...

Protect me, Lord, while I'm awake
and watch over me while I sleep
that awake, I might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace...

Amen.

Jesus, hold me in peace,
    keep me in your heart.
Let me know your mercy,
    keep me in your heart.

Jesus you are my hope,
help me when the darkness comes,
in your kindness,
    keep me in your heart.

Jesus, you are my life,
    keep me in your heart.
Fill me with your courage,
    keep me in your heart.

Sometimes, sorrows will come.
    Jesus, you are always near.
In my sadness,
    keep me in your heart.

Jesus, morning will come,
    keep me in your heart.
Raise me with each new day,
    keep me in your heart.

Jesus, teach me to love.
Faithful, let me always be,
    'cause you love me.
Keep me, in your heart.
