NIGHT PRAYER: Wednesday 2/5

I recently saw this on Facebook:

O Lord,
help me learn something from this!

Help me learn not to waste a moment
of the precious time you give me...

Help me learn to do the next right thing
and all in a timely manner...

Help me take on responsibility
for tasks that are mine to do...

Help me speak and act and move in ways
    that make my response effective...

Help me not put off my reaching out
    to anyone who's in need...

Help me, day by day and hour by hour
to go where your Spirit leads me...

Help me seize the many moments of grace
    that bless me every day...

Help me turn to you in prayer
as soon as I hear you call my name...

Help me put my life in order
according to your wisdom and will...

Help me not put off 'til tomorrow
what you ask of me today...

Help me learn not to waste a moment
of the precious time that's mine...

Protect me, Lord, while I'm awake
and watch over me while I sleep
that awake, I might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace...

Amen.

One of those nights when it wasn't easy to find a song to pair with my prayer, but I think this setting of Micah 6:8 comes close...

It all comes down to this
What you require of me
Love my neighbor as myself
And You above all things

Act justly, love mercy, walk humbly
With You, God
In all things, in all ways, walk humbly
With You, God

It all comes down to this
To be Your hands and feet
Good news to all the world
The truth will set us free

Act justly, love mercy, walk humbly
With You, God
In all things, in all ways, walk humbly
With You, God

It's beauty for ashes
It's mourning to dancing
It's closer and closer
The Kingdom of heaven

And years from now we'll see
The fruit our hands have sown
Faith just like a seed
The only way it grows

Act justly, love mercy, walk humbly
With You, God
In all things, in all ways, walk humbly
With You, God
